Connecting with Nature This Environment Day

June 5th is World Environment Day #WED2017. The theme this year is “Connecting People to Nature.”
Stresses of  daily life can be mitigated by connecting with nature:

Getting your daily morning dose of sunlight can boost your vitamin D, your mood and your immunity.

Gardening and connecting with the soil is believed to lighten depression. There is nothing like the feeling you get by planting and nurturing and enjoying the fruits of your labor - especially eating and sharing the produce you grow.

Walking on grass barefoot adds to your sense of well-being.

Fresh ozone at the sea side at dawn revitalizes the human system to tackle all that the day throws at you with that extra vim and vigor.

In the hyper-connected world we live in our out of whack circadian rhythms  can be put right by camping away from electronic devices and being active amidst nature following the sun's moves.

The Japanese one of the most resilient races believe in  the healing way of Shinrin-yoku or Forest Bathing / Therapy:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for us to connect with nature to connect with ourselves in the 32nd Mann Ki Baat coinciding with celebrations of 3 years in office. Like our Eco-friendly ancestors he emphasized the need to nourish the planet that nourishes us.

As we work to avert irreversible #ClimateChange, #pollution of our environment, and #exploitation of #NaturalResources - including air, water and soil - the awareness of the benefits of a #ConnectionWithNature - reinforced regularly to all age groups in schools, colleges and workplaces could be the key. The key to taking the #GreenTurn - a sustainable, environment-friendly lifestyle - which can save our planet from man-made catastrophe if adopted wholesale.
